From our original block of Beckstoffer To Kalon grapes planted to clone 337, and one of our most sought after wines, this dense and ethereal Napa Cabernet Sauvignon strikes the perfect balance between power and elegance. With its extended hang time, 2018 was a very good year for the 'O.G.' block of Beckstoffer To Kalon. On the nose, this wine reveals gorgeous notes of blackberry liqueur, complex floral and mineral undertones all matched with an inky deep purple color. Sweet tannins integrate with a plush, persistent and prodigious palate making this a complex wine which expertly showcases Napa Valley terroir. As with prior vintages of this wine, the structure and power of the clone 337 from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard lends itself well to an extended decant or several years of bottle age to really spread its wings.

In the same realm as the 2016, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The O.G. is a magical wine and reveals a deep purple color as well as incredible cassis and blackberry fruits, loads of violets, spice, and floral nuances, building yet sweet tannins, no hard edges, and a monster of a finish. It shows the purity and elegance that are the hallmarks of the 2018 vintage yet backs it up with stunning concentration, a multidimensional, layered mouthfeel, and an incredible, singular personality. I kept coming back to this wine in my tastings and followed the bottle for two days, at which point we just drank it. It should evolve for 25-30 years.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The OG bursts from the glass with youthfully shy notes of fresh blackcurrants, black cherries and mulberries plus hints of pencil shavings, black soil, iron ore and black olives with a touch of bouquet garni. Full-bodied, the palate delivers taut, muscular, earth-laced black fruits with a firm, grainy texture and background freshness, finishing long and earthy.
