The 2011 California wine grape harvest was lighter and later than normal with ripeness developing at lower sugar levels, giving winemakers the opportunity to make flavorful, elegant wines. A wet winter and spring delayed bloom and hindered fruit set, which decreased the overall crop load. A generally cool summer prolonged the growing season and harvest started very late in most areas. Wines of this vintage are quite noteworthy for their vibrant, fruitful acidity, promising long aging in the cellar.

This tightly balanced wine is laser-focused yet full-flavored in a way that's very enticing. Vivid acidity binds together extraordinary peach, ginger and baking spice flavors that start out crisp and then blossom on the palate and linger on the finish. Made from 69% Chardonnay and 31% Pinot Noir, it's delicious now but will be even better after 2024.

Schramberg's top cuvée, the 2011 J. Schram Rosé is made of 69% Chardonnay and 31% Pinot Noir. Medium salmon-pink in color, it's scented of melon, dried red berries and citrus pith with accents of crushed shell and mushroom. The palate is extraordinarily fresh and youthful, with bright berries character, finely beaded mousse and a long, fresh finish. 1,476 cases produced.
