Powerful and concentrated but oh so suave, this smooth and velvety wine holds its ripe black fruits gently in ultrafine tannins for an expression that is tempting now but will only get better with time. Black currants, black cherries, dark plums, vanilla, cedar and cloves all come to the party. Best from 2025-2040.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is cut from the same cloth, with plenty of red and black fruit, notes of cedarwood and spice, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It's certainly more round and expansive on the palate, with terrific tannins, and where the 2018 needs a few years, this beauty is ready to go. Nevertheless, it should evolve for two decades.

Notes of graham crackers and baking spices frame blueberries and cherries on the nose of Tierra Roja's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. It's fruit-forward in flavor but includes enough earthy, savory elements to make it more than that. Full-bodied and lush, with a long, elegant finish tinged with licorice, it's tannic but ripe, making it accessible now but also capable of aging well for more than a decade.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tierra Roja Vineyard is bright and energetic, all in a mid-weight style that is quite attractive. Lifted floral accents, orange peel, spice, crushed rocks and earthy tones add an attractive aromatic upper register. This is an especially gracious wine from Tierra Roja. The 2019 is very nicely done.
