A hue of deep bright ruby red with an intense and complex bouquet of red cherry and blackberry intermixed with notes of minerals (graphite, wet river rock), licorice, fresh blond tobacco and a hint of black currant. Full-bodied, the palate is reminiscent of the nose, with a richly tannic yet round frame leading to a long, seamless and elegant finish. Built to age for decades, the collectible 'Morlet Estate' will open up after a few years of cellaring.

Another gorgeous wine from this fabulous estate, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate comes from the estate, which lies just south of St. Helena. It's a beautifully mature yet still lively, rich, and concentrated Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offering a dense plum/ruby hue, loads of rich red and black currant fruits, full-bodied richness, a rounded, meaty, structured, mouthfeel, and classy notes of iron, smoked herbs, dark chocolate, and earth. It's fully mature yet has a solid decade of longevity ahead of it. This is one of those wines that offers impressive richness and depth with a weightless, elegant style.

Here in just its second release, the Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate is showing very well at age ten. Deep and resonant, the 2011 graces the palate with generous dark red fruit, cedar, tobacco and leather. There is terrific purity and density, of course seen through the lens of this cool, late-ripening year.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from their home vineyard near such prestigious sites as Colgin's Tychson Hill, the Grace Family Vineyard and Vineyard 29. Produced from a hillside vineyard with volcanic ash soils, and aged completely in Darnajou barrels, it exhibits terrific fruit (supple blackberry and black currant) for a 2011 as well as hints of licorice, subtle smoke and lead pencil shavings. Surprisingly rich, intense and opulent, it can be enjoyed over the next decade.
