The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot) wafts with notes of rich, succulent, dense, ripe black berry fruit accentuated by hints of mocha and exotic spice. On the palate, the wine effortlessly lingers with candied fruit, black cherry, vanilla bean, and toasted sweet oak circulating with lively, yet supple tannins. The expressive finish on the palate accentuates fine extraction, balance and concentrated flavors showcasing the exceptional quality characteristic of Kobalt.

Revisiting the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has barely budged in a year of evolution. The wine exhibits a dark ruby/purple color and an impressive nose of toasty oak and sweet black currants intermixed with licorice and camphor, as well as a touch of graphite. Lead pencils shavings are also present. The wine has outstanding fruit, full body, ripe but generous tannin, and a rather flamboyant, opulent personality, much in keeping with the style of this vintage. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.
