The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from the estate vineyard (Calarcadia Vineyard) and spent 20 months in new French oak. It's a powerhouse of a wine that has awesome notes of black fruits, crushed rocks, black olives, and graphite. One of the biggest, richest wines in the vintage, it nevertheless is flawlessly balanced, has ripe, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. Hats off to Mark Harold and Tony Biagi for a stunning wine in a difficult vintage!

- v93-96
A hugely promising wine, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is dense, rich and voluptuous and yet also has plenty of the savory and mineral qualities that make wines from this site so distinctive. One of the more complete and expressive wines of the vintage, the 2017 is shaping up to be a real gem, In this last vintage at the Vineyardist Mark Herold crafted a wine that is superb. This fruit was picked five days before the October fires, which The Vineyardist was very fortunate to escape unscathed.

Produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 21 months in 100% new French oak, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple colored and delivers expressive crème de cassis, plum preserves and blueberry pie notes with touches of red roses, spice cake, hoisin and cloves plus a waft of fragrant soil. Full-bodied, the palate is laden with spicy black fruit preserves, offering menthol and floral sparks in the long, plushly textured finish.
