The final blend of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aaron Potts is the guru behind the winemaking and he definitely knows how to get the most out of this special terroir. Wonderful aromatics of blackberry, blackcurrant, sweet cherries, unsmoked cigar tobacco and graphite jump from the glass of this opaque purple wine. The vineyard is planted in the white Tufa volcanic rock of the region. Thick, opaque purple color to the rim, the wine is full-bodied, but has a sumptuous texture with adequate acidity and finely grained, integrated tannin. Like so many of the top 2014s, it is sexy, irresistible already, should drink well young and evolve for 20-25 or more years. This is a brilliant wine.

Intense, with a well of dark fig, black currant and blackberry fruit, liberally laced with singed sage, alder, charcoal and tobacco notes. Maintains focus through the finish, ending with warm earth and iron accents amid the fruit and grip. Best from 2021 through 2032. 495 cases made.

The 2014 Seven Stones is very pretty and savory, if a touch slender. Then again, that is 2014. The 11% Cabernet Franc adds notable aromatic intrigue and lift to the savory, floral and mineral-inflected flavors. Gracious and medium in body, the 2014 needs at least a few years to emerge from its shell.
